Reduce Your Phone Bill
Seems like nowadays cellphones are as important as oxygen. Chances are you can´t even spend a single day without your beloved smartphone. This is’t necessarily a bad thing; smartphones are a great way to optimize your efficiency with time and your performance. Nevertheless, all these miraculous functions they provide come at a price. Basically, the more you use your phone, the more you will have to pay. However, there are some things you can do to drastically reduce your phone bill every month.
Connect to Wi-Fi
A few years ago it was absolutely impossible to find a place with free internet. People struggled to find the nearest Starbucks so they could talk with their friends or co-workers via Blackberry. It´s a whole other story now. Stores and restaurants have realized just how important internet is to the majority of the population. For this reason, you will be able to find free Wi-Fi almost everywhere. Instead of using all your data try to look for the nearest place with Wi-Fi. If you browse the web a lot this little trick will save a huge amount of money and, again, reduce your phone bill.
It may sound kind of weird, but phone calls aren’t always necessary at all. Why you ask? Well, we´ve now got instant messaging, a faster way to communicate with our friends and family. Apps like Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger allow us to send and receive messages from all over the world.
I hear what you´re saying. Sometimes you need to have a voice conversation rather than just a simple back and forth chat. That’s perfectly fine. For that reason, there are apps which let you do that for free. Whatsapp has recently launched a function which lets you make call through the app. Facebook has the same feature through it’s messenger. All you need is an internet connection and you´re good to go. Needless to say, you should have an internet connection. Otherwise your data will disappear in the blink of an eye.
Use Free Apps
Storing your credit card in your smartphone is probably the worst idea you could have. The reason behind this lies in the lack of self-control that human beings possess. I guarantee that if you have your credit card stored in your phone you will buy apps you don´t need. You can find some version of just about any feature you need on a free app. so there is absolutely no excuse to splurge.
If you get a prepaid phone you will reduce your phone bill and avoid paying huge amounts of money when you surpass your available minutes. This way you will far more conscious about your consumption. Moreover, you won’t be tied to an annoying contract. You can buy a good used phone on Ebay or Amazon if you aren’t impressed with he ones available through the store. Just make sure they are compatible with your carrier choice.
Put Your Phone to Work
There are tons of apps out there that will put money back in your pocket. Some apps pay you just for shopping or viewing videos. Swagbucks, Ebates, Ibotta, and Rewardable (Enter my refferal code SBOJORQUEZ1 If you want to help me out!) are some of my favorites. Others, like Offerup, Ebay and LetGo let you sell your unwanted stuff to earn extra cash.
Turn Off Roaming
If you travel to another country the roaming fees will be ridiculously high. They are so high it would be cheaper to buy a new phone in the country in which you are and use it until you return. To avoid these horrifying fees we recommend you turn off your roaming option, as we said before, you don´t need to make calls, you can use Whatsapp or Skype.
Buying a phone without a contract may seem like an expensive deal at first. This might be true, especially if you plan to buy an iPhone 6S Plus directly from the Apple store. However, this may be a better option at the long term. Furthermore, you won’t get charged when you plan to change to another provider.
At least try to follow some of these recommendations and you will see how much you reduce your phone bill the next month. Let me know how it works for you!
