So, I am super excited to get started on my year to a New Me Makeover. I am busy getting prepared and doing my research since I really want to get the most out of the experience.
In order to ease myself into the experience, I am doing a 15 day daily affirmation challenge (you can find out more information here:) Each day there is a different affirmation and tasks that go along with it. I thought it would be a great way to get myself in the New Me Makeover mindset, and get prepared to make some serious changes!
Today’s affirmation is:
”Today is a brand new day. My past does not define me. My future is mine to create.”
Today’s task is all about not letting things that have happened in the past hold us back and limit our futures. I admit I am super guilty of this! I was a super bright kid and an under-achieving adolescent. There is still a big part of me that feels like that awkward, disinterested teenager.
I am ready to let that go! Sooo…. on to today’s tasks!
What are ONE area of your life where you’ve been limiting yourself or that you feel limited in?
Probably the most limiting aspect of my life has been my physical health. I was always the kid who loved “playing” but hated gym class. I hated running and competition and getting sweaty. I hated “exercise” and always felt I was no good at it.
What is the belief statement you’ve been harboring in this area? And is it serving/helping you to accomplish your goal?
“I am not athletic” is something I tell myself a LOT. It is definitely not helping me achieve anything and it really isn’t even true! (It’s my geeky inner 14-year-old talking!)
Change this belief(s). Given that the belief from #2 is limiting, what empowering belief(s) can you change it to?
I may not be athletic, but I am healthy and I treat my body right. I may have never been good at gym class, or have ever even stuck with an “exercise” program but I love to move my butt! Dancing, hiking, kayaking, Tae Kwan Do, I love to exercise-as long as it isn’t called that!
Identify your action step(s) to make the change!
I am committing to showing my brain exactly what my body is capable of! I will take note of all of the wonderful things my body does for me on a daily basis. I won’t beat myself up over the things I cannot do, but I will stretch my limits and keep my body healthy and moving.
Some tools I will use:
- Mapmyrun app and my Fitbit to act as daily fitness logs, recording all of the “exercise” sessions I do such as hiking and water aerobics. This will serve as a gentle reminder that I can be athletic for those times when my mind is trying to tell me otherwise.
- Daily Affirmations. I will remind myself daily that my body is awesome and can do so much more than I give it credit for.
- Before & After pics. I have worked so hard to get my body to where it is now!
Say your new belief out loud, along with today’s affirmation:
This is going to be my new mantra! I plan to post it on the refrigerator and use it for the wallpaper on my phone.
“Today is a brand new day. My past does not define me. My future is mine to create. I AM athletic and my body is AMAZING!”
